About Us
From the Earth, By the Hands
At Deep Blue Ceramics, we believe in the transformative power of clay—how it grounds us, connects us, and invites creativity into everyday life. Nestled in Weston, Canberra, our woman- and veteran-owned studio offers a welcoming space for people of all skill levels to slow down, get messy, and discover the joy of clay.
Our Story
Deep Blue Ceramics was founded by Amy, who discovered her passion for ceramics after encountering a handmade mug at a local market. Leaving behind a career as a public servant, she embraced the tactile, meditative nature of working with clay. What began as a personal journey has blossomed into a vibrant community studio, supported by a team of skilled, kind-hearted potters and teachers.
Our Studio
Our studio is a light-filled, purpose-built space designed for creativity and connection. Whether you're a curious beginner or an experienced maker, we offer everything from playful one-off workshops to immersive term-length courses. We also host private events, team-building sessions, and community fundraisers like Empty Bowls, which supports local hunger relief efforts.
Our Values
-
Inclusivity: We strive to create a supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to explore their creativity.
-
Sustainability: As a certified Net Zero studio, we minimize our environmental footprint by powering our kilns with solar energy and using recycled or recyclable materials whenever possible.
-
Community: We believe in the power of art to bring people together and make a positive impact. Through our classes and events, we aim to foster connections and support local causes.
